Huipil: Backstrap-loomed, plain weave. Two-faced supp. weft brocading. Five pieces joined back, front, and sides by randa. Head hole cut out and hemmed by hand-stitching, bordered with commercial cloth and embroidery; sleeve openings bound by embroidery stitch.
MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES: Backstrap-loomed with white cotton. Randa blue thread. Suppl. weft brocading at shoulders is sewn on by hand and not part of the other lienzos. CONTEXT OF USE: Randa, blue cotton thread. The suppl. weft brocading at shoulders is sewn on by hand and not part of the other lienzos. As textile is very worn, the bottom area of the two outer lienzos are patched with commercial cotton bearing the name of a company in Quetzaltenango. The patches are hand-stitched to the rest of the garment. Small pieces of the neckpiece remain. CONSERVATION: Fair; weft brocading very worn in some places, "thread bare", several holes.
