Description:
Coiled on 3-rod foundation, bowl shape. Brown designs. Tag "Maidu [Maidu crossed out] type Caladium. Per Ralph Shanks: Globular coiled basket bowl. 3-rod foundation. Background wefts are peeled shoot material and the design wefts are possibly dyed bracken fern root. The design includes a horizontal band of downward pointing open triangles below the rim. At the base there is a horizontal row of chevrons. Exterior workface with a rightward work direction. Plain wrapped rim with a tapered coil ending. Could be from Eastern California/ Western Great Basin.
