Description:
Netsuke: two men fighting. One has sword, the other a knotted stick. According to the donor's catalog: "Netsuke in old ivory of two men struggling. One, a samurai with sword (note the look of agonized resistance he has and the crack he has given to Kakurezato, not eggnog, but egg-nob) Kakurezato, a blind old man, with a knotted staff, whose business it is to carry bad people to Hades. Observe that Kakurezato has taken off his getta (sandals) which are under his feet, by his staff, so that in case the samurai he is seizing should defeat him, he, Kakurezato may run away more easily, as gettas prevent speed.—Japanese humour
