- 'Mormon Channel'...in excavating in Copperopolis mound (2 miles east of Stockton) unearthed 5 skeletons, the first found in the mound so far was we know. Under the head of 1 skeleton were found 3 banjo gorgets [1-221923-925] and seven other shell ornaments [927]. Skeleton lying east and west, head to west. Lying on back at depth of 2 feet. Under this skeleton one foot deeper was a second skeleton lying NW by SE, head to NW. Nothing found with this skeleton. By the right side of a third skeleton was found a bone awl [928]. The fourth and fifth skeletons were near the others but without relics." Description: "...See 2185
