8 x 10" Black and white negative. Kenya. Image depicts Nandi warriors carrying a fallen lion. Hoefler's original description: "Kenya. The Nandi warriors bear away the vanquished but noble foe. It is part of their ceremony that the lion shall be lifted and born away from the spot where he met his death for these men have respect for the courage of the lion and a great amount of their success is due to the fact that they never underestimate the cunning nor strength of their foe."
