4 x 5" Negative. Kamakura, Japan. Woman and child at base of statue. Hoefler's original description: "Kamakura, Japan. At the foot of the Great Daibutsu, this pretty Japanese lady and her young daughter posed for the cameraman from far-away America. Many of the Japanese women are beautiful and when dressed in their native costumes, remind one of brightly colored dolls. It is to be regretted that Western modes of dress have commenced to appear in Japan for they certainly do not fit into the atmosphere of this lovely country.
