Comment:
Described as "marine monsters," three figures carved in relief (1 on lid; 2 heraldically placed facing each other on front panel of sarc.) bear striking resemblance to ducks. Their heads have features that resemble water fowl, particularly their bills; and their feet with three toes and what might be webbing also are reminiscent of water fowl. Their posteriors however indicate a hybridization with a creature serpentine in form, with distinct "S" curve for lower portion of figure.
