The front is decorated with a hand-painted decal of seated male red guard studying a red book near a farmland under a red sun. The reverse is inscribed with a quotation from Mao’s works. The mugs that were made in Qimen have a distinctive pattern of fine horizontal striations. Inscription: Inscription concludes with: “Serving the people of China heart and mind” (全心全意地为中国人民服务 quanxin quanyi di wei Zhongguo renmin fuwu); foot: 安徽祁門 六八出品Anhui Qimen liu ba chupin
