Description:
Kuni., Kenya, Gob Ore, Rendille. Summer, 1977. 5-13374, acc no. 3332. Orig. No. 42. File code: 5.2 Collector: Jean Colvin. Donor: Jean Colvin. Materials, techniques: Bark of arge tree and roots of Hoonde tree crushed and put inside a small piece of goat skin. Sew it closed and decorate. Context of use: Worn by warriors (and unmarried girls??) attached to bottom of a necklace. Made by girls for their boyfriends. Description: Amulet- round ball with 4 vertical double rows of small orange beads between multiple horizontal rows of black beads- protrusion on top with white, green and red beads and chain with 2 aluminum discs hanging from bottom.
