The front is Spray-painted stencil in red Directives from Mao. The back has red spray-painted symbol of Chinese Railway System flanked by three horizontal lines. Below are three characters roughly translating to: Railroad section near Zhangjiakou (张车段 Zhang che duan). Blue bowstring around rim. Inscription: “Highest Directives: Grasp revolution, Promote Production” (最高指示 抓革命，促生产。 zuigao zhishi zhua geming, cu shengchan.); red square kiln mark on foot “Xuanhua, China” (中國宣化 Zhongguo Xuanhua)
