Statuette of a Christ with back to tree. Christ figure made in ivory, portrayed as beardless. with red blotches on body probably representing blood, and with fastenings around wrists and one ankle which seem to bind him to the tree. Tree made in light wood, on which gold paint has been applied. India, Goa (Union territory of Goa)*. *Formerly belonged to Portugal; as of Mar. 1962 became part of India, administered as a union territory. Max length: 17 7/10 cm.
