Description:
Coiled, plate shape. Two tags on basket. The first stapled tag reads "Nov 1938. 15 Porter". Second tag "15. Mission Type Nov. 1938". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled broad bowl basket with sloping sides. It is in the traditional shape of a winnower but does not appear used. Deergrass bundle foundation. The basket has juncus wefts, with tan, orange, and black-dyed coloring. The basket has four leaf-like patterns and four diamonds. Each design element is separated by a black line, forming a cross pattern. The workface is on the interior, with a rightward work direction. The basket has bound under weft fag ends. The rim is plain wrapped with a tapered coil ending.
