Description:
Double saddle bag, khurj ba'eer. Typical of northern style bags, but not a very good example, neither artistically nor in its condition. Plain weave white cotton and black goat hair with two bands of checks. 3 bands of weft twining with weft ends left out as tassels. Holes for saddle in middle section. Cloth binding under "tathrees," stitching at opening of bag. 22" tassels and stems; tassels heavy and stuffed. Patterns of twining in triangles and diamonds. S and Z-ply. Commercial dye and Burnoog used. Plain weave, weft twining, Egyptian braids on tassel stems. 12 EPI. Habak stitching on sides, tathrees on edge of bag openings, Egyptian braid tassel stems.
