Description:
8 x 10" Negative. Image depicting row of Nandi spearmen around fallen animal. Hoefler's original description: "Nandi spearmen with the fallen foe. There is no greater show on earth than a lion hunt and spearing by Nandi warriors. Notice bent spears, which are made of soft metal, which the Nandi smelt themselves from iron ore. After these encounters the men must bend and hammer their spears back into shape and repair broken shafts. They do not want tempered metal, saying that it breaks whereas their only bends."
