Nearly complete cranium and mandible of a robust middle-to-older adult male individual. Large abscess enveloping alveolus of LM₂, possible paramasticatory use of lower RM₁. Abscess enveloping alveolus of LM². Possible additional abscess on RM². The right jugular fossa is asymmetrically enlarged, and possible lytic lesions are observed immediately posterior to the right jugular fossa. Individual displays evidence of multiple perimortem traumatic interpersonal injuries to the head. On the left frontal is a 2.5 cm by 4 mm crushing injury caused by a finely edged, bladed weapon. Two centimeters posterior to this is a second, less deep, crushing injury approximately 1 cm by 3 mm. On the left parietal about 4 cm posterior to the previous injury is another crushing injury about 1 cm by 5 mm. About 2 cm lateral to midline and about 2 cm posterior to the coronal suture is a round perforation measuring about 8 by 9 mm. The margins are weathered similarly to rest of cranium, indicating perimortem injury. The interior aspect of this injury is considerably larger—about 2 cm by 7 cm. The occipital condyles are damaged anteriorly, consistent with a massive downwards trauma to the head.
