Comment:
MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES: Backstrap loomed cotton 2,3,and 6 singles in red, white, blue and jaspe blue/white. Native name and meaning: Tzute, cofradia. Ceremonial multipurpose cloth. CONTEXT OF USE: Brocading covers nearly all of tzute in chevron like patterns. The base cloth is an even blend of red and white with jaspe in blue/white at 1/2 inch intervals. The tassels are also in red, white and blue/white jaspe warps. A broader band of blue appears in the center of the textile (warp yarns), just as in 3-29734-35 and 3-29737. This is the smallesst of all the similar textiles. Hilo de "rayon". CONSERVATION: Fair. Worn at the ends and sides; brocading in poor condition; base cloth faded.
