Description:
Coiled, bowl shape. Sticker: "#13 Male K5". Stapled label: "Nov 1938 24 Porter". Tag: "13. Male K5XX 24. Porter Nov. 1938 Mission Type". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled basket globular bowl. At the start the bundle foundation is shredded material, after three coils it switches to deergrass bundle foundation. The background wefts are sumac with the designs in orange and black-dyed juncus. There are two designs; at the base is one alternating black rectangle band, on the side is a wavy pattern of orange outlined by black. The basket has an exterior workface with bound under weft fag ends and a rightward work direction. The rim is plain wrapped with a tapered coil ending.
