Basketry covered, twined. Tag: Klamath R. Tribes att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basketry covered glass liquor bottle with basketry covered metal screw cap. Oval starting knot. The warp material is probably willow. The weft material is conifer root. The weft design overlay is maidenhair fern with a beargrass background. Starting after the starting knot, there is one weft row of plain twining, followed by one inch of three strand twining followed by plain twining all the way up to the neck where there are three weft rows of three strand twining. The main design is two sets of two stacked diamonds. The rim is trimmed. The cap has a crossed warp starting knot. The rest of the materials on the cap are the same as the main basket. The cap has a mixture of three strand and plain twining. Both of the baskets have a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist. The cap has a single-sided overlay with the design on the exterior. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California, with an atypical design but typical materials and techniques.
