- Gift from Albertina Lopez Cumes (later known as Bertina Lopez Cumez) to ACW in Panajachel, Guatemala, March 16, 2005. 1 paper tag and 1 cloth tag attached at back to one hem: (removed) Paper tag: “ACW #16” Cloth tag: “Gift to ACW from Albertina (Bertina) Lopez Cumes, of Santa Catarina Palopó, in Panajachel, Guatemala, the night we went to the award ceremony at her daughters’ school. March 16, 2005.” Note: At that time, Bertina & Grigorio’s daughters went to an evangelical school in Panajachel, the next town over from SCP, located a few miles away. The girls at that school did not wear traje. Some of the girls who won awards that night were dressed in low-cut, sleeveless evening gown-style dresses. Tzute. 2 panels, one hemmed at both ends, the other hemmed at one end with a finished selvage at the other end. Panels connected by decorative stitching (randa) using multicolored, variegated threads. Plain weave. Multicolored warp ikat warp stripes with black backgrounds alternate with narrower single color or 2 color warp stripes.
