Hatchet. "Chimbuya" (dance hatchet). "Chimonomono" (wood). Blade is a separately carved wood piece inserted into wood handle, dark staining at end of blade and both ends of handle. Length of handle 33 centimeters. Used to dance with, in a "play like a theatre," especially used by women. Purchased for 44 Francs, equivalent to $0.88 USD [at date of collection, 1960].
