Description:
4" x 5" Negative. Man sits down and pets turtle who is non-native to Mombasa and may have come from Italy. Hoefler's original description: "Giant Land Turtle, Mombasa. Turtles of this size are not native to Africa. This giant lives in the town of Mombasa, wandering about at will. He understands only Italian, and the story of how he got to Mombasa is that he was brought to the Island hundreds of years ago by a sailing ship, hailing from South America.
