MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES: Backstrap-loomed with single and two ply cotton in ixcaco, white, red, green, grey, pink, royal blue, turquoise, purple and black. CONTEXT OF USE: The red band along the shoulders is characteristic of the "creya" style huipil; very narrow stripes are brocaded just beneath shoulder. Green vines below this, and a row of animal figures beneath that. This is repeated again. The bottom third of huipil is left unbrocaded with tan (ixcacao) warp and white weft. Head hole and arm openings are finished with royal blue commercial cloth. Head and arm openings are bound with new blue commercial cloth, probably older binding wore out; dating relates to design layout (Arriola de Geng). CONSERVATION: Fair. Several unpatched holes; brocading worn away in places.
