MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES: Backstrap loomed. Cotton, one and two ply, white predominant, plus red and purple. Silk floss, violet, pink, ivory, gold. Native name and meaning: Huipil de santo-- blouse for a saint. CONTEXT OF USE: Iconography: horses, worms, chickens, ducks, floral pattern done in geometric motifs. Weaver's mark of embroidered words--- front white base "Recuerdo de Sebastiana Ajcuc". This huipil is similar to one pictured in Robbins (1985) on cover that is dated C.1935 and is for a figure of the Virgin of the Rosary.
