Context: functions as a gift tag and covering envelope. Used for gifts of money. Purchased at paper goods store. See exhibition notes by Robert Lam in acc. env. [per current reading -- 2017] (a) red envelope is inscribed with the symbol "xi," most commonly associated with marriage and celebrating love, indicating that the envelope may have been used to give gifts of money specifically at weddings (b) appears to be transcription and some translation of the red envelope.
