ewer; bottom reads "Model of Pompeian ewer". narrow egg-shape; the top is elongated into a neck that flutes out to the mouth, then center of the mouth continues up into a point and pinches inwards. the handle is attached to the neck where it begins to flute out to the mouth. the handle continues to outline the curve and mouth, continuing the arch around where it attaches to widest part of the vessel. the foot is a short cylinder. the shield is in a classic shape divided per Pale (blue background on the right, white on the left). on the right side is a left arm emerging from the dividing line, wears a white long-sleeve and holds up a yellow hilt sword. on the left is a solid black half portioned eagle. its wing is pulled up to its beak, its foot stretched out, its tail fanned out. beneath the shield is a yellow scrolling ribbon with the Gaelic word "Conact". beneath this is written "Connaught". made by W.H. Goss, 1858-1887.
