Sleeve borders. White silk satin, embroidered with figures in garden scenes. Black with blue, gold, red details on figures. Two females on a, two males on b, each with different scenes. One male figure wears an eye mask. A,B area each stamped twice "Made in China". China Background: silk; satin weave. Pattern area: untwisted silk, gold wrapped silk; satin stitch, couching Parts of a woman's robe worn on special occasions. 19th century. Design may have been derived from a story. Mary V.
