Total loom size: length 1 meter 40 cm, width 53 cm. Native name and meaning: Mecopal native name for back-strap band. Materials, techniques: loom; wooden frame. Cloth; cotton. Warps; varicolored, alternating ikat (jaspe) striped and solid strips. Weft; red. Back-strap band; maguey fiber. Context of use: Used by women. Maguey fiber band strapped across weaver's back, used for holding vertical threads of loom taut while weaving. Extra thread kept in basket ( See Cat. 3-24393 a-t). Made by: loom made by men.
