Description:
4” x 5” Negative. Lion looking at camera standing up in a field. Hoefler's original description: "Lioness had cubs. Paul Hoefler managed to steal these cubs from her, but after keeping them for two days, he brought them back to her in the donga for they cried all night and made the natives so uneasy that none of them could sleep. The black boys insisted that the mother would stalk into camp and get her cubs and kill everybody for revenge, so in order to prevent this carnage, Hoefler took them back to mother and photo shows her coming out to receive them back. She roared her thanks.
