Description:
Carving, cabinet pc.; Carved ivory figure of seated man holding sheaf of papers w/ inscription on front reading in part "siesho" (fair copy). At his right knee is a gourd. At left knee is a tied cloth bundle (furoshiki). Cross-hatch pattern on sleeves. Eyes are painted black. Depressions in surface stained dark or dirty. Bundle and gourd carved seperately and attached to figure. H. 3 cm.
