Rock which has been melted; porous in quite a few places, greyish-black in color; melted on sand on great deal of body surface. Used in mescal roasting pits by the Yavapai Indians. In early spring the just emerging mescal flower shoots were gathered and placed in the roasting pits where these rocks were heated in a big bonfire. Due to the extreme heat, some rocks melted like this one.
