Description:
4” x 5” Negative. Lion sits in truck bed of Colorado African Expedition truck. Lion looks at the camera. Hoefler's original description: "A story hard to believe but true just the same. One day we parked our truck near the ant hill and went off in the touring car to look for lions. While away a whole troop came along and took possession of the car and all its contents. They took some meat we had fetched along out of the car, sharpened their claws on the high class body finish, took two cans of oil from the rack, which we found later full of holes minus the oil. They carried the spare tire into the grass and chewed holes in it, and as we came up the biggest lion ran with it to the ant hill.
