huipil; machine-made white lace; floral embroidery in blue, purple and green cotton and sequins on collar and end of sleeves; ceremonial huipil worn by women members of the cofradia (a religious group dedicated to the worship of a particular Catholic saint) on the day of that saint or other special meetings of the cofradia. It is worn over their everyday costume of huipil and skirt, and worn with a lace scarf or shawl over the head, and headband. This example probably 15-40 years old in 1972.
