The Great Buddha at Kamakura is a shrine to which thousands of people journey and it is also visited by many thousands of tourists from all over the world, for this great image of bronze is one of the notable sights of Japan. Kamakura is only forty miles from Yokohama, reached by an excellent road which takes the visitor through some pretty sections of Japan. This work in bronze was cast in September 1252 A.
