cup, straight cylindrical cup with a gold trimmed mouth. the handle is ear-shaped completely painted in gold. the crest is for the city of Edinburgh as written beneath the seal has a classic shaped shield with a white background. central is a two towered yellow castle sitting on a grassy knoll with a yellow brick path that leads to the bottom of the shield. on the right side of the shield is a horse standing on its hind legs supporting the shield with its front legs. the horse is light tan in color. on the left side of the shield is a woman in a pink gown with a blue-green wrapping her left hand rests on top of the shield. above the shield is an anchor resting on a white diagonally striped bar. beneath the shield is a scrolling yellow ribbon, also acting as a stand for the two figures. written in the ribbon is the Latin phrase "Nisi Dominus Frustra". made by Fairy Ware, unknown date, possibly owned by Gemma. maker's stamp is elliptical (horizontal) traced by "Finest Carlsbad Austrian Manufacture" in the center is a smaller sllipse with "China".
