Twined openwork serving basket. Tag "Klamath R. Tribes At." Per Ralph Shanks: Twined openwork basket, bowl shaped. The basket has an unusually wide spaced crossed warp starting knot. The warp and weft material are probably hazel. There is one small burn and some organic material on the interior. The basket is plain twined over primarily one warp, with the rows spaced up to a .5 inch apart. The first several weft rows as well as the last two weft rows are closely spaced. The rim is trimmed. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California.
