a) Basket. Fine twined overlay, globose, concave base, circular geometric design in black on wheat colored ground. b) Lid with braided handle. Made of tule cordage, plain twined, white grass, maidenhair fern overlay. Per Ralph Shanks: Lidded basket with handle on lid. Not tule, but is conifer root wefts with beargrass overlay and maidenhair fern designs. Plain twined, with three strand twining on starting knots on lid and basket. Three strand twining on rim of basket, four rows below the rim. The design and materials indicate this basket is from Northwestern California.
