Woven by Bertina Lopez Cumez of SCP. Given to ACW by Bertina in San Francisco CA in June 2011. 2 paper tags in seam near cut warp end: (removed) “ ACW #7” —“Uncut huipil. Woven by Bertina Lopez Cumez of Santa Catarina Palopó, Dept. Sololá, Guatemala. Bertina is my weaving teacher. This was a gift from her to me in San Francisco, CA. in June 2011 on a visit here. ACW" 3 panels, 3 selvage cloth. Cut warp ends at one end. Neckline uncut, sides not seamed. Plain weave. Purpleblue warp with thin blue warp stripes. Dense single-faced geometric supplementary weft patterning, predominantly blue & green.
