Brass casting, in shape of tusk. Raised leaf design on convex surface, snakes on either side. Loops on outer edge similar to Ashanti gold weights. Slot cut into convex surface for musical mouthpiece (cut post-original manufacture). Hollow. Length 39.5 centimeters, diameter at wide end 3.4 centimeters. From West Africa, Ghana, Ashanti. Context of use: possibly used as decoration on end of staff.
