Headscarf; fine synthetic yellow mesh embellished w/gold-colored metallic thread in squares. Yaotloh. People's Republic of China, Sinkiang. Turfan; Uighur peoples. Made and used by women to cover hair in sight of Allah. "The women wear this around the head like a turban, not tied under the chin. However, I noticed many women (younger women) who wore these pieces of clth as scarves - leaving their heads bare. These pieces of clth come in many lovely, bright colors, all with the similar gold thread running through." 69 cm by 66 cm.
