Description:
4 X 5" Negative. Lion looking at camera with paw on animal carcass. Hoefler's original description: "She roared defiance!! Having discovered the photographer behind the thorn wall of the boma, this female roared her defiance at him and placing her powerful self over the dead topi, she dared him to come out and take the kill away from her, but our fearless cameraman felt that it would not be exactly the thing to do. She takes an attitude of defiance and dares him to come from behind the bush, but he feels like that would not be the right thing to do.
