8 x 10" Negative. Image depicting row of Nandi spearmen surrounding a fallen animal. Hoefler's original description: "Two lions were speared. Nandi spearmen at Camp Simba. The spearing of these lions furnished the greatest thrill that anyone present has ever experienced, and one of the spectators had just crashed his plane in the great sud swamps of the Sudan, while flying low over some wild elephant herds. He got a greater thrill out of the lion charging and spearing however. Hoefler succeeded in filming both charges and had three cameras on each charge and spearing. Got it once in slow motion pictures which should give a thrill to even the most blase. These fifteen brave lads surrounded and speared two full grown males within three days. Since inter-tribal warfare has been stopped by the white men, lion spearing is the only outlet for the pent up courage of this warrior tribe."
