A black-and-white photographic print from negative 15-30720, Royal elephants. Written on the back, in blue pencil: "(c) Paul Hoefler." A paper caption is attached and reads: "WATCH YOUR CREDIT LINE; PHOTO COPYRIGHTED BY PAUL HOEFLER. UD 30. ROYAL ELEPHANTS OF UDAIPUR. UDAIPUR INDIA. The ceremonial elephants in front of the Triple Gateway, the main entrance into the courtyard of the palace. The state elephants are here shown dressed in their robes of splendor, each of them carrying enough gold and silver and precious jewels to form the basis of a very comfortable fortune. Photograph was taken before the commencement of the procession on the occasion of the birthday of His Highness The Maharana of Udaipur. These worshipping elephants all have names, and from left to right, are shown Madan Mura, Ganeshgaj, Singhdal and Shyangaj. FOR RELEASE DECEMBER 17th, 1933.
