- Yellow corn cob. 14cm. 1. Native name and meaning: elote. Context of use (incl. role in trade): Rather like U.S.A corn. No good for tortillas. They do strip off husks and roast over coals in brazier on the street. Also used in some soups (not pozole). There is a special verb (elotiar) for corn growing for elote.
