Old hemispherical parching basket. Tag "Yuki". Second tag "40-B". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled low broad parching basket. Used, with food debris and burns. There are some native repairs. The start is a pinhole start. The coil foundation is peeled shoot splints surrounding one to two rods. The basket wefts are unpeeled and peeled redbud, the redbud on the rim is a darker color. The design includes two horizontal bands, with five rows of redbud each. There is a break in the design at the same space in each band. There are random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped, with peeled and unpeeled redbud. The rim ending is missing for about three inches. The basket has an exterior workface. The weft fag ends are concealed; the interior moving ends are concealed. There are about 40% split wefts on the interior, with less than 5% split on the exterior. The basket has a rightward work direction, with a down to the right of slant weft twist. The basket has definite Yuki techniques and materials.
