- Description:
- Saddle cover, nategh. White, beige, and black plain weave ground with 3 large and 2 small weft-twined bands at one end in maroon, orange, green, and blue triangular patterns. Black "ants" pattern (checks) in white center stripe. Made in 2 pieces and sewed with fagotting in center. (Un)decorated end has sewn-on fringe to match warp. Fits over saddle with hole for pommel 28" from front (decorated end). Hele/slit is 6" long. Commercial dye used. Green is uneven and gives marble effect. Warp-faced plain weave with weft twining. Front edge has sewn-on fringe. Back end is bound in red polyester ca. 2" wide. Center joins in 2 styles of fagotting; front end in tight stitches in blocks of colors: blue and white, red and green, red and orange. Back stitches are further apart, with a center twist, in henna-colored yarn. Tufts of weft are left hanging from twining as decoration element; thread count per inch: 10 EPI
