A person may go to a Lama and ask for help with a problem or fear. The Lama might then produce an amulet such as this. It would be carried on the body of the owner or hung in a place of honor in the house. The amulet has a braided string from which to suspend it.The thread-cross design incorporates the image of a stupa.
