Specimen does not tally with original description which is "whalebone hat." "This style hat copied from Russian type. Note: according to Eskimo consultant Ronald W. Senungetuk (July 1987) "May not be a Russian copy. Aleuts had several hunting and ceremonial hat styles that culminated qualitatively during Russian regime. Different styles and types identified who was who, where from and ancestral lineage.
