Description:
Omani Man's bag. Same technique used as #107. Black and rusty red sheep wool with some white in pickup patterns. Extremely fine yarn. Traditional patterns. Tops of openings embroidered in "thras" stitch with ends free. Sides embroidered with blanket stitch. For use by men. Sides sewn together with tight blanket stitch. Tops folded down and embroidered with thras (Saudi term). Plain weave, pickup, and embroidered edges. S-ply, 18 EPI. Natural dyes used: madder (fuwa), dried limes (loumi), and alum (shabbah). Made for sale. I was told this bag was new and therefore cost more than the older woman's bag.
