Encircling bands top and bottom. o/w plain field. (b) Stopper. Brown encircling bands. Tag "N.W. Calif". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basketry covered glass bottle (a) with basketry covered glass stopper (b). Uncertain type starting knot, possibly crossed warp. The warp material is probably hazel or a dark peeled shoot. The weft material is a dark conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass. Description for a: starting after the starting knot, there is .25 inch of three strand twining, followed by .75 inch of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining. Plain twining continues for 4.5 inches after which there is a single weft row of three strand twining. This followed by 5/8 inch of plain twining, followed by three weft rows of three strand twining, followed by plain twining until the last weft row, which is three strand twining. The rim is trimmed. The stopper b: probably has a crossed warp starting knot. The rest of the materials on the stopper are the same as the main basket. The stopper starts with .25 inch of three strand twining, followed by .5 inch of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by .5 inch of plain twining, followed by a single weft row of three strand twining, followed by .75 inch of plain twining, followed by four weft rows of three strand twining. Both of the baskets have a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California, with an atypical simple design, slightly different materials and unusually small weft stitches, but with overall similar weaving techniques.

The weft material is conifer root. The weft design overlay is maidenhair fern with a beargrass background. Starting after the starting knot, there is .75 inch three strand twining, followed by 0.5 inch of plain twining, followed by three weft rows of three strand twining. Plain twining continues after that all of the way up to the neck. The design is diagonal stacks of double triangles. The rim is trimmed. The stopper (b) has a crossed warp starting knot. The rest of the materials are the same as the main basket. From the starting knot there is three weft rows of three strand twining, followed by ½ inch of plain twining, followed by one weft rows of three strand twining, after that there is plain twining to the ⅓ of an inch from rim where there is a single weft row of lattice twining followed by plain twining. Both of the baskets have a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist. The stopper has a single-sided overlay with the design on the exterior. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California.

From the lid's starting knot there is 3/8ths of an inch of three strand twining, followed by 1/4 inch of plain twining, followed by two weft rows of three strand twinning, after that there is plain twining to the rim. Both of the baskets have a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist. The cap has a single-sided overlay with the design on the exterior. The workface for both baskets is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California.

The weft material is conifer root. The weft overlay is red-dyed woodwardia and beargrass. Starting at the starting knot, there is .5 inch plain twining followed by one weft row of three strand twining. That is followed by .75 inch of plain twining, followed by alternating .5 inch crossed warp openwork and .25 inch of close twining all of the way up to the neck. At the neck there are four weft rows of three strand twining, followed by another row of openwork, followed by .5 inch of plain twining, followed by .25 inch of openwork, followed by one weft row of plain twining, followed by three weft rows of three strand twining.
