Hearst Museum object titled Miniature teapot, accession number 7-10098a,b, described as Teapot with detached lid. Handel is rounded over the top. Spout disects from the middle curving upward while narrowing to a small pourer. Spout mouth and lid are trimmed in gold. The shield is in a Florid style. Inside is a standing bear (?) on its hind legs brandishing its front feet, sticking out its tongue. Above the shield is a five towered red wall, above which are two smaller shields designed in similar fashion as the main shield. Inside, the right small shield is a red griffen with wings spread out, frontal facing, head in profile, standing on its hing legs. On its chest is green shield. In its feet right side holds a sword, left side holds an arrow. There is a crown on its head and its sticking out its tongue. On the left small shield is the same griffen, except black.  On top of the two shields, centered, is a bulbed crown. At the bottom of all this is a yellow ribbon with "Berlin." The bottom describes the pot as "model of Terra Cotta Kettle in Hereford Museum." Handle is modeled as a rope attached to the top corner of the body curling up and rounding down below the mid-section where two tassels drape away creating an inverted 'V' shape. The top is wrapped with a modeled rope tightly creating a bunched look which in turns creates the neck. The mouth flares out and is waved, continuing the bunched appearance. The general shape is spherical with the spout is attached just above the midsection. The lid handle is a knob with a modeled shape rope tied around tightly matching the bunched appearance. The teapot mouth and lid are trimmed in gold.   The shield is in edged style. Orange background with a stag head and antlers. Between the antlers is a Botonee budded cross. Beneath the shield is a yellow ribbon written "Ancient Burgh of Canongate Edinburgh". Made by G.H. Goss, 1858-1887

The top is wrapped with a modeled rope bound tightly creating a bunched fabric look, which in turns creates the neck of the pot. The mouth flares out and is waved continuing the bunched appearance. The general shape is spherical with the spout attached just abouve the mid-section. The lid handle is a knob with a modeled rope tied around tightly matching the bunched appearance of the pot. The teapot mouth and lide are trimmed in gold.  The center of the pot is a circular ring with three Squared Classic shaped shields interlocked in the center. Within the circular ring, between each shield is a Latin word which reads "Juncta, In Uno, Omnia" beneath each word is a Chinese character translating the same word above it.  The three shields are all divided into four flags within. The flags of the left shield are- from top left to right: United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany (Prussia). The flags on the right shield- from top left to right: Russia, Denmark, Italy (but incorrectly painted with Ireland's flag), Portugal.  The bottom shield (which is upside down to the viewer)- from top left to right (right way viewed): Norway, Spain, Holland, Sweden. Beneath the entire circular ring is written "Shanghai." This is the seal of the Shanghai Municipal 1863-1941. Made by W.H. Goss 1858-1887. Date is narrowed down to 1883-1887 because Russia's State flag of the Russian Empire was made official in 1887.
Hearst Museum object titled Miniature teapot and lid, accession number 7-10161a,b, described as Crested miniature (a)Teapot with (b)detached lid; general shape is spherical, almost cylindrical. The mouth is trimmed in gold and descends into a lip in the inner wall to catch the lid (which is domed shaped with a knob handle and a gold dot at its center). The handle of the teapot is ear shaped with a gold line down the center. It is attached just below the mouth, rounding up and around attaching just below the mid-section of the body, extending down to the bottom. The spout attaches wide, covering the widest part of the sphere. The bottom of the spout extends to a small point. The out line of the spout curves inward, then out making a pronounced pourer. The crest is an edged shaped shield, divided Per Fess style. The top portion is divided in half vertically. The left side has a dark blue background with a white lion standing on it hind legs brandishing its front paws. The right side of the shield is again divided diagonally, vertically, and horizontally alternating black and yellow. In the lower portion of the shield, it has a white background with a Viking ship, one mast (no sail) tied to four lines. At the top of the mast is a short star burst or rosette. The ship rests on a light blue sea. Beneath the ship in the water is a fish facing to the left. Beneath the shield is a yellow scrolling ribbon with writing in Old English font in Norse (?) "Wr U3ART" Beneath the ribbon is the towns name "Oban", the writing between the 'A' and 'N' has been worn off. There are no Makers Marks, possibly Nautilus.
